Three Generations of Bakers

A short introduction behind the soul and force of
“Sweet Treats by Irene”
I’m a stay-at-home mom of three wonderful children. My passion for baking runs deep in my blood, going back to the small town of Saranda, Albania where my great-grandfather opened a small bakery shop named “Bleta” (Bee) in the 1930s which served traditional desserts of that time.
In the 90s, after the regime fell, my parents were able to reclaim the small café/bakery, “Café Bufe Bleta,” where they served the best and most popular desserts and cookies in town.
Often, I would help my aunt, a famous wedding cake baker in my town, which deepened my passion for baking. Later when my family moved to Greece, and I continued my education in Hotel Management and Marketing/Advertising, I managed to continue my passion for baking by finding a job in a small family-owned bakery. It was there that I expanded my knowledge of traditional Greek dessert making.
Moving to the United States didn’t slow my baking or my desire to try new things. On the contrary, my passion for baking and honoring the traditional Albanian and Greek culture became my driving force.
With the support of my family and friends, I decided to share my passion with all of you. It makes me proud to continue the legacy of my great-grandfather.
